2019 Martial Arts Research Initiative for Experts(MARIE)

□ Project period : 2 July to 2 August 2019 (32 days)
□ Participants) 6 experts from 6 member states (Brazil, China, Germany, Ghana, Jordan, Ukraine)
□ Project description
- Theoretical learning sessions: Research capacity building, workshops, discussions and seminars under the theme of martial arts pedagogy, martial arts and the SDGs and etc
- Practical sessions: Taekkyeon, Taekwondo (3-day camp at Taekwondowon) and Ssireum
- Extracurricular: Korean language class and field trips
- Personal assignments: Research paper writing under the theme of martial arts, youth and women

□ Outcomes
- Enhanced teaching and research capabilities for young martial art researchers
- Contributed to expanding the research areas in the field of martial arts in relation to ‘Martial arts training and its contribution to the SDGs’, ‘Martial arts and gender equality education’ and ‘Martial arts for all’
- Built strong network of martial arts experts for future cooperation with the centre
