International Martial Arts Demonstration Team
□ Project period and venue : April to November 2019 (8 months) / Provincial festivals and events in 17 cities and provinces nationwide
□ Participants : A team of 50 members (8 international / 40 Korean participants and 6 temporary staff members)
□ Martial arts disciplines : 9 martial arts disciplines (5 foreign and 4 Korean)
- Foreign: Capoeira, Arnis, Pencak Silat, Bokator and Wushu
- Korean: Taekkyeon, Taekwondo, Yongmudo and 24 Military Arts
□ Project description : 72 world martial arts demonstrations (20 special and 52 street performances) followed by hands-on activities
□ Outcomes
- Joint demonstrations of international and local practitioners opened up possibilities for martial arts performances
- Audience-friendly demonstrations contributed to mainstreaming martial arts
- Raised awareness on martial arts by spreading UNESCO’s culture of peace and the “Martial arts for all” message
- Instilled pride in martial arts professionals through awareness-raising demonstrations
