Academic and Practical Seminars on International Martial Arts
During the Chungju Martial Arts Festival, an academic(September 22, 2017) and practice (September 23, 2017) seminars were held in an attempt to promote the international exchange between martial arts professionals and understanding of traditional martial arts. Held at the Grand Hotel in Chungju, the academic event with 200 participants offered lectures and panel discussions on a variety of themes such as promoting sustainable development through martial arts, suggesting policy plans through an analysis of Korean government's ssireum policy, physical education at schools: programs and projects, brain development of the youth and martial arts. The practical seminar, hosted at the Chungju World Martial Arts Museum, was attended by 100 participants and a performance of different martial arts was presented. In the discussion session, participants exchanged opinions with questions and answers on the meaning of the designation as Intangible Cultural Heritage, each country's policies to promote martial arts and common features and differences of martial arts around the world.
