UNESCO Youth Martial Arts Forum
During the First World Youth Martial Arts Master ships under the theme of Harmony of the World Martial Arts, the UNESCO Youth Martial Arts Forum was held on November 4, 2017. In the forum joined by 100 Korean and international youths, Caroline Baxter, an expert at UNESCO Bangkok, gave a talk on the role of martial arts and youth in the frame of Sport for Peace and Development, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and UNESCO's Kazan Action Plan for Sports while Stephan Fox, the vice president of Sport Accord elaborated on the social responsibility of athletes. Lastly, Kong, Seong-bae of Yongin University of Korea gave a lecture on the designation of martial arts as Intangible Cultural Heritage and its meaning. The forum was held by the World Mastership Committee and organized by the ICM, providing the youths an opportunity to understand various efforts made by the UNESCO to promote martial arts and the role of the youth in the processes.
