January 29th, ICM and the Ghana National Commission for UNESCO signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) to increase cooperation in the field of martial arts.
Based on the memorandum, the two organizations will work together on projects and research in the field of martial arts, and in hosting international seminars, workshops, conferences, etc with the aim of empowering youth and women.
Cooperation will especially focus on co-hosting the 2nd African Regional Martial Arts Congress.
The 1st African Regional Martial Arts Congress was held in 2018 at Nairobi, Kenya.
The congress was meaningful in that it was the very first international congress about martial arts held within the Sub-Saharan Region, a priority area for UNESCO.
MOU signing ceremony was held at the Ghana Accra Sports Stadium Presidential Lounge and both organization seeks to contribute in peace through martial arts in the African region.
