Title [ICM's Pick] Participation, Recreation and Inclusion through Martial Arts Education

PRIME partners are working together to develop a framework for quality martial arts education for the disabled, and has recently published “A Practical Guide for Coaches” presenting martial arts educators with basic information on inclusion and disability.


PRIME(Participation, Recreation and Inclusion through Martial Arts Education) co-funded by the European Union through the ERASMUS + Sport Collaborative Partnership programme, aims to ensure inclusion by promoting quality martial arts participation among people with disabilities.


PRIME Partners(Link to see more) include ICSSPE(International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education), TAFISA(Association for International Sport for All), ICCE(International Council for Coaching Excellence), UNESCO Chair IT Tralee(UNESCO Chair in Transforming the Lives of People with Disabilities, their Families and Communities, Through Physical Education, Sport, Recreation and Fitness at the Institute of Technology Tralee), DKF(Disability Karate Federation), A.W.K.S. Italy(Association Of Wado Karate Do Kai Shin Gi Tai Italy), ITF(International Taekwondo Federation), and Hayashi Karate Center e.V.


The partners are working together to develop a framework for quality martial arts education for the disabled, and has recently published “A Practical Guide for Coaches (Link to see Guidebook)” presenting martial arts educators with basic information on inclusion and disability. Further resources such as Activity Cards, videos, and additional reading documents are also provided on the official PRIME web-site which is delivered in four languages, English, French, German and Italian.

 

 

With this project PRIME partners say they intend to support SDG 3 Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4 Quality Education, SDG 5 Gender Equality, SDG 10 Reduced Inequalities, and SDG 16 Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
