Experience During the 2022 5th International Youth Online Martial Arts Camp

Ayusha Lamichanne,

participant of the 2022 5th International Youth Online Martial Arts Camp

Confidence, enthusiasm, mental strength, courage, compassion, honor, friends, and most of all a family is what makes ICM, UNESCO. ICM has been a great central hub for martial arts that has shown and is showing the cultural and mutual values of martial arts. I am more than honored that I was part of it. The stage, the mentors, well-spoken honorable guests and other participants were all very friendly and helped me be at ease throughout the camp. The D-day was astonishing.

Group presentation, capacity building and training session. We all got chance to learn about global issues and how martial arts plays role in solving them even if it were to a very little extent. Alone we can do so little and together we can do so much. As powerful as these words are, we all - other teams and especially my team did our very best together. All of us had different perceptions but we respected each and every one’s opinions.
We got introduced to others martial arts and got to learn about their importance too. I was really surprised and honored about the way the meta-verse session was especially programmed for our training camp. It made us more friendly and comfortable.
People often think, “if you practice martial arts, it is easier to use power and abuse others.” But it’s actually the opposite because martial arts incarnate respect and strengthens discipline. This is what I learned in our (love fighting hate violence) session. If martial arts and fighting was something that starts violence then I don’t believe ICM would have cooperated this far and achieved this much.
Diversity, inclusion, civic participation, sustainable development and etc. Through the camp I got more knowledge on our global society, inclusive diversity and healthy development.

Learning new cultures and traditions have always made me intrigued and has made my curiosity a successful one. The way the programs were conducted accordingly was very helpful in making us mentally healthy. Intriguing and fascinating; our very last introduction was to a diversified martial arts performance.

Lastly, I am very thankful to UNESCO ICM, my teammates, our mentors and organizing team (Ms. Lee Miso), all the masters and professors. This girl from Nepal can’t believe she grew up as a confident, strong , friendly and enthusiastic person who got to learn new things, and got new friends.
Even in this pandemic , I am very glad that the program was conducted so well considering each and every participants and their opinions and making friendly environment despite of many barriers. I will never forget the opportunity I and we participants got from this training camp. I will continue to be a great martial artist and always keep a healthy relation with ICM.
