Part.2 ICM’s footprints in 2023 Global Youth Martial Arts Academy This year’s academy ran for five days with 21 international students residing in Korea to provide them opportunities to learn universal values of martial arts and boost their sense of community as global citizens. The participants were accompanied by six Korean programme facilitators named “buddies” throughout the programme. Following the opening ceremony and participant introduction on the first day, the academy hosted diverse lectures on martial arts and sports. Also, the participants had the chance to learn different forms of martial arts, followed by Korean crafts and food making sessions. Lastly, the participants shared their ideas on how to improve the existing ICM programmes as part of team activities. Of female participants 62% Awards ceremony Korean food preparation Part.2 ICM’s footprints in 2023 Model UNESCO Conference (MUNESCO) This year’s Model UNESCO Conference, which was held for four days with 49 undergraduates and graduates from 12 countries, had the theme “Building International Solidarity for the Successful Implementation of Fit for Life.” The conference is based on the format adopted by the UNESCO General Conference and Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Education and Sport (CIGEPS), comprising debates on topics followed by drafting and adoption of resolutions. On the first day, participants were shown a Fit for Life lecture by the Sports Sector of UNESCO HQ and experienced taekkyeon. Following debates and discussions, two final resolutions were adopted. The Conference was acknowledged as a valuable opportunity for participants to experience international conference culture and accumulate knowledge on the Fit for Life programme and sports as a means for progress and peace, as well as learning to express and coordinate their opinions to produce a joint conclusion.
