Part.2 ICM’s footprints in 2023 2023 7th Martial Arts Open School Since 2017, the ICM has run the Martial Arts Open School to empower youth and women in marginalized areas of the globe, stimulate interest in martial arts, and expand each country’s foundation for martial arts education. This year’s programmes attracted 660 youth from five countries. Curricula tailored to each nation were developed by consulting NGOs, universities, and Korean Cultural Centers with a wealth of experience in youth and women’s education. Martial arts training and lectures on topics like gender equality and non-violence allowed the young participants to boost their physical, emotional, and social abilities. The ICM hosted the African Martial Arts Conference from 2018 to 2022 in accordance with UNESCO’s global priorities, and the networks formed with experts and martial arts practitioners through the Conference provided the basis for this year’s inaugural workshop. Martial arts experiences and talks built leadership capacity in the operation of martial arts gyms and instruction of youth.
