CALL FOR APPLICATIONS


International centre of martial arts for youth development and engagement is a UNESCO Category 2 Centre which is established through a signed agreement between the Government of the Republic of Korea and UNESCO.

 

The 2022 ICM Martial Arts Summer School(ICM MASS) which will be held from 23 to 27 Aug aims to forge a robust network among international students and Korean undergraduate/graduate students and also, promote multi-cultural understanding through martial arts education.

 

We look forward to active participation of those who are interested in the activities of the UNESCO and martial arts.

ICM MARTIAL ARTS SUMMER SCHOOL OVERVIEW


l  Theme: Stronger Together in Chungju

l  Dates: Aug 23 to Aug 27, 2022 

l  Location: Chungju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea

l  Participants: 30 graduate and undergraduate students (25 international students and 5 Korean graduate and undergraduate buddies)

l  Language used: English and Korean

l  Programme outline

- Martial Arts Academicus: Lectures and Martial Arts Trainings including Horse-riding martial arts, Taekkyeon, and Taekwondo

(Details subject to change)

- Martial Arts Emphaticus: Field trips and cultural activities

- Martial Arts Communicus: Educational outreach program with local elementary school students


 APPLICATION GUIDELINE

l  Set-quota of participants: 25 international students and 5 Korean graduate/undergraduate buddies

l  Target group: Undergraduate and graduate international students in the Republic of Korea (Including exchange students, students enrolled in language school/institutes and those taking a leave of absence)

l  Benefits of participation: Free participation fee throughout the programme (Including meals and accommodations), Souvenir package provided, certificate of participation and prizes for best team members

l  Required documents

Ø  Signed Registration Policy Agreement Form, Application Form,

Ø  Self-Introduction(English): Within A4 1 Page (No restrictions on its format)

l  Participant requirements

Ø  Those interested in generating positive impact in your community and society, martial arts, sports and international exchange

Ø  Committed to attend the whole ICM MASS schedule

Ø  With remarkable skills in communication, decision-making and problem-solving

Ø  With leadership in your personal life and active attitude

Ø  Have an international mindset and speak fluent English

l  Preferred candidates

Ø  Those who are fluent in Korean(Higher than TOPIK Level 3)

Ø  Those who are enrolled in related majors(international cooperation, martial arts, sports, etc)

Ø  Those with good presentation skills(In particular, using PowerPoint)
