2022 5th African Martial Arts Congress was held successfully from 25 to 28 October in Chungju, Korea.

The Congress was a valuable opportunity to develop active cooperation between ICM and UNESCO Member States in Africa.

We all discussed and reached agreements on the Gender Equality, Development of African Youth, Preservation of African Traditional Martial Arts, and Strengthening Partnerships focusing on five main keywords including Africa, Youth, Women, UNESCO and Martial Arts.

During the Congress, all the participants attended academic sessions and enjoyed cultural experiences such as learning Taekkyeon and Gayageum (Korean traditional musical instrument) and training world martial arts and Korean archery.

Also, They visited to the Demilitarized Zone(DMZ) and the 3rd Tunnel reflected on UNESCO’s fundamental principle of peace and reconciliation near North and South Korean border.

ICM is looking forward to more feasible and sustainable cooperation with African countries by discovering joint projects and designating focal points by the region. Thank you for your support.
