General Information |
Metratun is an honourable man to man fighting style originating in Chile. There is no arbitrator and it is based on the warrior’s honor, and thus very similar to longkotun. The fighters take each other by the arms (Mapuche dictionary, s.d. ; Cruz 2010) and have to bring down their opponent using the force of the arms only (Mora Penrose 2016). Whoever fell, lost the contest and the bets. Competitors used horses, lambs, valuable clothing, luxurious ponchos and blankets as stakes If they were unmarried, some even used the present sisters (Mora Penrose 2016). |
