Title [Centre News] UNESCO ICM Holds the 2022 ICM Martial Arts Summer School
UNESCO ICM will open the 2022 ICM Martial Arts
Summer School from August 23rd to 27th with the participation of 25 foreign
students living in Korea.
In holding this event, ICM aims to spread
the philosophical and cultural values of martial arts, raise the understanding
of Korean culture in foreign students and
stimulate social interactions between students.
With a theme of “Stronger Together in Chungju,” the summer school
will consist of a wide range of programs, for
example martial arts lectures, martial arts training including Taekkyeon and
Taekwondo sessions, a Youth Idea Lab for the
promotion of martial arts, and local cultural
experiences.
At this year’s event, which marks its own
first anniversary, 25 foreign students from 16 countries – 7 Chinese, 2
Vietnamese, 2 Mongolian and 2 Sri Lankan students will participate.
In the opening session, the Mayor of Chungju,
Gil-hyeong Cho; the
Vietnamese Ambassador to Korea, Nguyen Vu Tung; and the TV personality Daniel
Lindemann will deliver warm video messages welcoming the participants.
ICM Secretary-General Chang-hyun Park said in
his welcome speech, that “The summer school will serve as a platform where
participants can improve their understanding of martial arts and Korean culture
by experiencing Korean traditional martial arts.” |
