[Call for Candidates for the 2023 UNESCO ICM Martial Arts Education Prize]

Since 2021, ICM has been selecting winners for the UNESCO ICM Martial Arts Education Prize, awarding individuals, groups, or organizations contributing to the development and social engagement of youth and women through martial arts training activities.

In 2021, the Kung Fu Nuns(India) were awarded for their contribution in creating a safe environment in their local area through regular kung fu exercises changing the old decrees that used to forbid nuns from physical activities (Short clip video of the laureate). In 2022, Blanquerna, the sports sciences faculty of Ramon Llull University(Spain) were awarded for their contribution in adapted judo education and research for children with autism(Short clip video).

This year’s UNESCO ICM Martial Arts Education Prize have opened calls from 14 June to 16 August, 2023 (24:00, Korea Standard Time). Anyone who has contribution in martial arts education can apply online with a letter of recommendation, summary of candidate’s contribution and evidentiary materials. The winner will be awarded a certificate, medal, and 10,000 USD.
