2017 MARIE(Martial Arts Research Initiative for Experts) After Reviewing the research proposals on youth development and participation through martial arts made by each applicant and taking into consideration the recommendations made by the National Commission for UNESCO in each member country and by the international directors of the ICM Governing Board, participants for the program were selected.
For three months from September to November in 2017, the Martial Arts Research Initiative for Experts were conducted.
The ICM invited a total of five participants from the three countries of Kenya, Uzbekistan, and Spain to the program. The young professionals participated in the programs for enhancing martial arts teaching methodologies; learning the theory and practice of Taekkyeon, which has been added to UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage List; taking field trips to martial arts institutions ; and learning research methodologies.
