We sincerely welcome you to the UNESCO International Martial Arts Centre .

Our center is a UNESCO Category 2 institution established on December 19 , 2016 , based on the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Korea and UNESCO concerning the International Martial Arts Centre for Youth Development and Participation under the auspices of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). It is located in Chungju, the hometown of Taekkyeon , which is registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage .

Martial arts are a remarkable cultural heritage that has emerged and developed naturally alongside human history . Therefore , our center is dedicated to preserving contemporary martial arts and passing them on to future generations . To ensure that martial arts remain relevant and valuable in the present age , we are pursuing research projects and various forms of exchange , experience , and education .

In addition, we will strive to become a center that provides more diverse opportunities for young people to actively participate in community activities, develop their potential , and achieve healthy growth , and that also puts great effort into spreading the culture of peace and non-violence pursued by UNESCO and preserving cultural diversity .
